St Augustine’s Churchyard
Cherishing Churcyards Week
Sat 5 -
Thanks to everyone who came along
Cherishing churchyards week promoted by Caring for God’s acre was celebrated at St Augustine’s church in a number of different ways during the week.
Father Mark used the churchyard theme in his sermon and prayers at the Sunday service.
A number of the congregation and friends joined the churchyard volunteers at their Tuesday afternoon work party.
Coffee was served in the churchyard to communicants following the Wednesday morning service in glorious sunshine.
On Saturday morning eleven “twitchers” met at 6.30am for a dawn chorus walk led by the John Wilson, the chairman of Glamorgan Bird Club. John’s presentation and knowledge led to a fascinating walk which we hope can be repeated in the future.
On Saturday afternoon in the warm sunshine we held the “Parish Picnic”. Parishoners and friends from the Ministry Area, joined in the “Count on Nature” and a treasure hunt. Rachel raised some funds for the Parish with another plant sale.
The churchyard with its rich “Habitat and Heritage” was well and truly celebrated!
