Baptism or Christening

Holy Baptism is a wonderful expression of faith and desire to follow a Christian way of life. We are delighted to welcome children and adults into the church by Baptism and we celebrate this special occasion with their family and friends. This usually takes place on Sunday during the normal morning service or at other times if there are special circumstances.

If you would like to enquire about having your child baptised, or being baptised yourself, please email or call Rachel Elder, Ministry Area Administrator.

There is no charge for Baptisms.

Weddings & Banns: Having a wedding in church makes it a very special day and we have some beautiful churches within our Ministry Area. We would be very happy to help you make arrangements for your wedding day.

For information or to make a booking please contact our Administrators  029 22805663. They can guide you though the process and answer any questions you may have.

A wedding can take place in any of our churches as long as you live within the Ministry Area (ie in Penarth or Llandough) or meet one of the other qualifying conditions. Visit the Church in Wales website for more details on legal requirements.

BANNS: If you live in this Ministry Area but are getting married somewhere else, you will need to get a Banns certificate. Please contact our Administrators by email admin@penarthministryarea.com or call 029 22805663.

Funerals: arrangements are usually done through the Funeral Director, but you can also  contact the clergy directly: Rev Jimmy Young 07860 777582 or Rev Susannah Griffin 07840 457965 especially for support in bereavement.

Burials in our churchyards - St Augustine’s and St Dochdwy’s Churchyards are closed for new burials, apart from in existing graves. Ashes may be interred in existing graves, but there are no new plots available at St Augustine’s. New ashes plots are available in St Dochdwy’s to those who have a connection to Llandough and also at Old St Lawrence at Lavernock for those with a Penarth connection.

Old St James, Leckwith has a limited amount of space.
